Apparently.
Today the boyfriend and I decided to put in a good seven hours of house and yard work (thankfully with a lot of help from his mother). But, both the house and yard needed it... bad. I'm too embarrassed to say how long the grass/weeds in the backyard were, but let's just say that it was like a jungle for our dog, Bob.
It may have gotten cut sooner, but unfortunately for my boyfriend, I refuse to mow the lawn. I know, that's probably sexist of me, but that's just one thing I will not do. I'll clean the house inside and out, do the bills, fold laundry, but I will not cut the yard. I just won't. I did it one time in Kirksville and it was the worst experience of my life. I swore to myself then that I would never do it again, even if I had to pay someone to do it for me (which my roommates and I did after several failed attempts to cut the grass ourselves).

Anyway, back to the point. We started the morning with Tyler cutting the grass (obviously) and me cleaning the house. And once I get in the mood to clean, there's no stopping me. Two hours later, the upstairs and downstairs had been vacuumed, floors swept, everything dusted, and clothes put away. It's such a rewarding feeling to have a clean house! And if you have the right music playing, it goes by a lot better than you might think.
Then Tyler's mom got to the house around 1 p.m. and they started cutting back all the bushes, trees and vines along the backyard fence. After cleaning for two hours straight, the last thing I wanted to do was yard work, so I grabbed a snack and headed downstairs to watch Parks and Recreation (which, by the way, is the greatest show ever!) A half hour later, I felt bad so I went upstairs to see if they wanted to take a break for lunch, and luckily they wanted Chick-Fil-A, which I gladly went and retrieved. :)
After devouring our lunch, I offered to help this time, and we went out and worked our butts off for yet another three hours. Tyler has a lot of poison ivy in his backyard, so we all had to wear long sleeves and pants... needless to say we were all sweating a little. And I have to admit, yard work can be equally if not more satisfying than house work. And for some reason I have this weird obsession with pulling weeds. I don't know why, but I absolutely love the feeling of pulling those bad boys out of the ground, root and all. It just feels so good! Seriously, go out and try it. Like tomorrow. You'll like it I swear!
So after a long day of hard work, we can both finally relax. His idea of relaxing: playing MLB 2K11 on the Xbox. My idea of relaxing: blogging. :) But the best part is knowing we don't have any work to do for the rest of the weekend. Now we can just kick back and enjoy the weekend, which will include barbecues with our families and hanging out with friends. Sounds good to me!
And now that we got our spring cleaning out of the way and Memorial Day Weekend is here, I can officially say that I'm now ready for summer! Bring on the baseball, BBQ, float trips, concerts, weddings, winery weekends and lazy days by the pool!
